The Depth of the Challenge: Bridging the Knowledge Gap
The topic of digital accessibility is becoming increasingly urgent, particularly due to the transposition of EU laws, such as the European Accessibility Act, into Hungarian legislation. Our client, a leading educational and consulting firm, recognized that the market needed a practical, well-structured, and above all, modern and easily accessible curriculum. Traditional in-person training and screen-recorded e-learning modules are often unappealing, slow to produce, and require costly expert involvement. The core problem was how to convey the complex principles of WCAG 2.1 (e.g., Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust) in an easily digestible format. The solution needed to be fast and scalable, while respecting strict budgetary constraints.
The Focused Solution: Design Accessibly!
As a UX/UI and digital content production company, we chose generative AI technology to bridge the gap. We developed a six-part, short video series titled "Design Accessibly!" The total length of the series is about 23 minutes, with modules ranging from 2 to 11 minutes, optimal for a "microlearning" approach.
The Series Structure:
Why is Accessibility Important? (2 min): Establishing motivation.
The Legal Background of Accessibility in Europe (2 min): Addressing legal compliance and risk management.
What You Should Know About the Four Principles of Accessibility (11 min): The core of the series, a detailed yet concise explanation of WCAG principles.
How to Implement Accessibility in Practice (4 min): Concrete tips for designers and developers.
What are the Consequences of Non-Compliance? (2 min): Deterrence and showing potential fines.
Why is it Worth Investing in Accessibility? (2 min): Business benefits and positive reinforcement.
Technological Innovation: The AI Avatar
We used an AI-based video generation platform to revolutionize the production process.
Visual Content: We selected a photorealistic, professional-looking AI avatar to deliver the presentation. This provided a polished, human visual presence while entirely eliminating the cost and time associated with traditional filming (studio rental, actor fees, lighting).
Audio and Language: The scripts were generated by a professional Hungarian, AI-based Text-to-Speech engine. This ensured consistent voice quality, clear articulation, and, most importantly, allowed for immediate modification and regeneration of the scripts prior to the editing phase, minimizing post-production time.
Results and Milestones
The project was a success and yielded significant advantages:
Cost Efficiency: We achieved a cost reduction of 80-90% compared to traditional video production methods.
Speed to Market: The entire six-part series was completed in less than 4 weeks, from concept to final, upload-ready videos, a fraction of the traditional production time.
High Quality and Consistency: The professional appearance of the AI avatar, coupled with perfect audio quality and explanatory screen graphics (also designed by us), delivered a high-quality educational experience.
UX/UI Considerations: The short, targeted length of the videos, clear visual presentation, and modular topic breakdown make the course material ideal for busy, modern professionals.
This case study demonstrates how the combination of a UX/UI design approach (focusing on content consumption and user needs) and cutting-edge technology (AI avatar) can successfully, quickly, and cost-effectively deliver complex, legally-mandated knowledge to the target audience. With this series, our client secured a leading position in the Hungarian digital accessibility training market.
